Here are some clouds.

Note that they do not look tall and fluffy. Tall and fluffy usually comes from strong thermals, the rising columns of warm air which keep us in the sky.
Given the look of the clouds, I thought that yesterday wouldn’t have a lot of lift. I was wrong! It was amazing for early March. The thermals were pushing me up into the sky at about 3 knots sometimes, and it was consistently possible to find the next thermal.

Some of the clouds had dark bottoms, indicating that they’re quite thick and probably caused by a relatively strong thermal. Here’s a video of me approaching a cloud. For the first 58 seconds of the video you can head sad bleepy sounds, which is the glider telling me I’m gradually sinking. Then when I get under the dark cloud, you can hear the happy bleeps as the glider tells me I’m in rising air! This is just what you want to hear in early March!
Come and try it yourself, either by booking a trial flight or coming along for our open weekend in June.
