The Cambridge Gliding Centre (CGC) made a strong impression at the Duxford Summer Airshow, held on the 21st and 22nd of June 2025. The club showcased two gliders: a Duo Discus (call sign 72) on static display, and an ASK21 (call sign HTV), which thrilled spectators with an aerobatic performance flown by display pilot Brendan O’Brien.
Saturday saw sweltering temperatures reaching the low 30s°C, while Sunday offered a more pleasant experience in the mid-20s°C range—ideal for a packed airshow weekend.
The CGC stand proved a popular attraction, drawing steady crowds and generating over 100 entries in the club’s competition. Visitors were invited to answer the question: “How far did our static display glider fly on 2nd June 2025?” for a chance to win one of four glider flights.
CGC’s successful presence at the show was the result of considerable effort and coordination, led by club Chair Phil Atkin and a dedicated team of volunteers who helped run the stand and support operations throughout the weekend.
It was a proud and high-flying weekend for CGC—showcasing the excitement of gliding to thousands of aviation enthusiasts.
